Trulieve Cannabis Corp. (CSE: TRUL) (OTCQX: TCNNF) is set to start selling cannabis to patients in Georgia after it received authorization from local authorities.

On Thursday, the leading cannabis producer from Florida, announced it received a Class 1 production license from the Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis Commission (GMCC) to sell its products.

Initially, the company will have five medical cannabis shops in Georgia and its building a facility to produce low-THC oil products. The new Adel facility will also house the processing facility.

This expands on Trulieve’s Southeastern hub and introduces the company’s products in Georgia under the medical cannabis market.

“The Georgia team is hard at work to begin operations as soon as possible to ensure those in need have access to Trulieve’s line of products,” Trulieve president Lisa Pinkney said.

“We’re also excited to share that Trulieve’s operation and its ancillary business partners are projected to create a wide range of jobs in the state as the business grows.”

The state’s “Hope Act” was signed into law in 2019 to authorize the commission to oversee the selection process to launch a medical cannabis program in Georgia. After evaluating and scoring the submissions, the GMCC announced in July this year its intent to offer Trulieve with a license to expand access to patients across the state.

“Trulieve is thrilled to receive a Georgia cannabis production license and we appreciate the Commission’s diligence throughout the selection process,” Trulieve CEO Kim River said.

“We look forward to educating the Georgia market on the numerous health and wellness benefits of cannabis, as well as providing patients statewide access to the medical cannabis they have been seeking.”
