A top cycling team from the United Arab Emirates has been utilizing a wearable sleep-tracking ring to augment their training regimen. They are currently preparing to compete in the Tour de France this July, where they have had success in previous years.
Ultrahuman, creator of the Ring AIR device and a sponsor of the bicycle racers, just extended its partnership with UAE Team Emirates. The sleep tech company is one of their sponsors, along with larger organizations like Dubai’s Emirates airline and First Abu Dhabi Bank.
“By leveraging this technology, UAE Team Emirates gains a competitive edge through enhanced physical endurance, sustained energy levels, and sharper cognitive performance during races,” the team explained in a press release on Wednesday.
The device measures heart rate, oxygen saturation, sleep phases, stress levels, temperature fluctuations and other key biomarkers to provide insights to the coaches. Ultrahuman, headquartered in India, says it has been crafted with fighter jet-grade titanium. Its battery can last for up to six days on one charge.
One of the team members, Tadej Pogačar, is a three-time Tour de France champion. Many consider him to be the best cyclist in the world.

Ultrahuman creates world’s first luxury smart ring line
The sleep data specialist has made an expensive line of handmade smart finger wearables. The “Rare” collection made its debut at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
They are only currently available at fancy select stores in the UK and France, Ultrahuman says. Namely Printemps in Paris and Selfridges in London.
The precious metals they are crafted with, primarily 18-karat gold and platinum, make them fetch a price of approximately US$2,000. Aside from that, they have the same capabilities as the Ring AIR the cyclists are using.
Other technologies Ultrahuman has developed include the M1 smart patch arm wearable, which measures blood sugar levels; and Ultrahuman Home — a device that analyzes environmental elements in a person’s house like natural light, humidity, air pollution and background noise to provide health insights. It was launched at CES 2024.
Oura’s ring line and the Samsung Galaxy Ring are notable competing products, but those companies have not released a luxury line like Rare.
