Safe Pro Group Inc (NASDAQ: SPAI), a Florida company harnessing the power of drone and AI technology to revolutionize the landmine detection and removal process, was up by over 33 per cent Friday after recent successes.

On Thursday, the unmanned aerial vehicle tech specialist announced the debut of its artificial intelligence subsidiary’s SpotlightAI ONSITE software — the latest and greatest. The predecessor program, SpotlightAI, has been employed in Ukraine for explosive removal for months.

ONSITE is a significant enhancement to our AI-powered drone imagery analysis ecosystem and one of the most requested features sought by end-users in Ukraine who require actionable intelligence for route planning, resupply and medevac operations for the safe movement of personnel and assets in hostile environments,” CEO Dan Erdberg explained in a news release.

One of the advantages of this updated software is its compatibility with many of the standard drones available today. The company filed a patent application for its technology this month.

Before the augmentation of the company’s software, Safe Pro revealed that it was expecting 200 per cent year-over-year revenue growth in its upcoming Q4 results. This will be significantly attributable to record revenue in October. It resulted from an increased rate of drone and software sales after the recent hurricanes and storms in the southeastern United States. The juicy results expected in upcoming financials have given investors a positive outlook.

Furthermore, Safe Pro secured a valuable memorandum of understanding with an unnamed “U.S. government prime contractor” in November. It will see that the company and contractor collaborate on drone and AI tech contracts with the U.S., European Union and NATO.

SpotlightAI utilizes Amazon Web Services cloud computing infrastructure for multiple purposes.

Safe Pro detects over 16K mines in Ukraine

The technology company has been collaborating with the Ukrainian government to diminish the dangers posed by undetonated explosives in the country’s soil. To date, Safe Pro has been able to identify more than 16,500 as the conflict with Russia continues.

“Before the critically needed reconstruction of civilian infrastructure begins, the land will need to be surveyed for deadly landmines — a massive undertaking only possible with off the shelf drones and AI,” Erdberg said earlier this month.

Safe Pro completed its IPO in August, raising US$5.1 million. In addition to UAVs and AI software, the company also provides protective gear needed for the ballsy individuals diffusing mines by hand once they’ve been identified.

One of its subsidiaries, Safe-Pro USA, manufactures body armour for law enforcement and first responders, and military equipment.

In May last year, Scientific American made a short documentary showcasing some of the tech developer’s activities.

More than 60 countries throughout the globe are plagued by unexploded munitions from past wars. This is particularly true in Vietnam, Egypt, parts of Europe, Afghanistan, Iraq, Cambodia and other nations.
