As of today, the British Columbia Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) will not accept or ship any cannabis product to pot shops in the province due to job action by the BC General Employees Union (BCGEU).

In an announcement Monday, the BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) said it will also not assemble orders nor process invoices or purchase orders until further notice.

Appointments at the distribution centres will also be cancelled and its Customer Care Centre will be closed.

“We sincerely apologize for this disruption and for the impact to your business. We recognize the news of the current job action may be concerning for vendors,” said the LDB in a statement.

The LDB added that updates and potential impacts will be posted on the BC Cannabis Wholesale websites as well as the BC Cannabis Stores website.

In a statement Monday, the BCGEU said it will begin targeted job action after issuing a strike notice last Friday.

“Members at the Wholesale Customer Centre and the Customer Care Centre (Cannabis division) in Burnaby will be included in the targeted job action but there will not be a picket line at that location,” reads the statement.

“Retail liquor and cannabis stores will not be part of this phase of job action.”

The union also released the picket lines which will go up at the following locations:

  • Delta Distribution Centre (DDC)
  • Kamloops Distribution Centre (KDC)
  • Richmond Distribution Centre (RDC)
  • Victoria Wholesale Customer Centre

Last week, the Ontario Cannabis Store faced a cyberattack on its logistic partner Domain Logistics which left the pot distributor unable to process or deliver orders to pot shops in the province.

Despite, no OCS systems were targeted nor did information leak from the breach impacted customers as well as 1,333 licensed cannabis stores in the province. The OCS said in a statement that it has resumed shipments and is in the process of returning to operational status.
