Longevity expert Peter Attia removed from Eight Sleep website after Epstein emails drop

Attia expressed remorse for his interactions with Epstein on X this week

Prominent sleep tech mattress system company Eight Sleep appears to have removed Peter Attia from its scientific advisory board following the U.S. Department of Justice’s release of documents tied to Jeffrey Epstein on Jan. 30.

Records show that his name and photo appeared on Eight Sleep’s website as late as Jan. 22, but they have vanished as of Feb. 3.

The move stands out as another professional setback for Attia, who already stepped down from a role at protein bar maker David Protein in the wake of the disclosures.

The released files, comprised of emails from 2014 to 2019, show Attia’s ongoing correspondence with convicted sex offender Epstein. The two met in 2014 through a healthcare contact while fundraising and Attia visited his Manhattan home seven or eight times over five years. Other prominent figures known to have visited this apartment include Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (formerly Prince Andrew), Elon Musk, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ: GOOGL) (LON: 0RIH) co-founder Sergey Brin and Bill Clinton.

Emails show that Attia offered Epstein general medical insights on topics such as longevity and probiotics. Certain messages sent to the famed and mysterious pervert contained sexual humour, including a 2016 email from Attia saying that female genitals are “indeed, low carb” and that he was still awaiting results on their gluten content. Another expressed “JE withdrawal” after not seeing Epstein for an extended period.

Attia has denied ever witnessing illegal activity, flying on the Lolita Express or visiting Epstein’s private island Little Saint James. On Jan. 2, he publicly stated on X that his emails to the shadowy financier were “embarrassing, tasteless, and indefensible.”

“I was never on his plane, never on his island, and never present at any sex parties,” Attia explained.

The Stanford medical doctor continued by highlighting that he was lured into interactions with Epstein because “he was widely known in academic and philanthropic circles as a funder of science” and that “everything about him seemed excessive and exclusive.” Attia added that he hosted parties with the most powerful and prominent leaders in business and politics — one such event he claims to have attended in 2015.

The apologetic social media post concluded by saying that he deeply regrets ever interacting with Epstein. Attia has not faced any accusations of wrongdoing or being witness to any crimes.

Author of the famed 2023 book “Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity,” Attia joined Eight Sleep’s advisory board in May of 2024 where he served alongside sleep experts Matthew Walker and Andrew Huberman.

During his time on the board, he contributed to product development and endorsed their high-end temperature-controlled mattress systems. Eight Sleep is yet to publicly comment on Attia’s apparent departure from its ranks.
