Those willing to pay a few bucks for a subscription to Willy Myco’s Patreon channel can now access to the world’s first step-by-step LSD/acid synthesizing tutorial video. Saying that its production was a difficult task would be a huge understatement.
Following consultation from a pair of respectable attorneys earlier this year, Myco knew that making the video in the United States without getting arrested would be impossible. He ended up arranging to have Pakistan’s University of Okara apply for a license to synthesize the drug so he could film the process in exchange for giving a talk about psychedelics at the institution.
Even though the school agreed to his proposition, he still had to source the precursor materials for the psychedelic from a “deep web marketplace” with a virtual private network (VPN) and pay with cryptocurrency. Nobody was willing to openly sell Myco the essential materials for fear of alerting authorities.
Myco’s aim is to make the information more accessible to the masses. He says there are only five or six primary LSD chemists throughout the globe and that creating a simple-stupid video on how to make it has caused him to receive death threats.
“Literally a grandma could take my video, watch it, and produce LSD,” Myco told DoubleBlind — the first publication to report on the story.
“I’m not making no money showing people how to create LSD, I’m not selling LSD,” he added. “I’m just putting the power into the people’s hands so they have the knowledge and they can do what they need to do with it.”
A trailblazing & difficult achievement
Other educational resources about LSD production are available, but they do not offer an informative tutorial like this.
Written works on how to produce the drug include “
Another popular YouTube channel, Total Synthesis, made a video on LSD synthesis one year ago, but it primarily discusses the chemistry without offering any sort of demonstration like Myco’s.
Myco is known for his popular YouTube channel “Willy’s World,” which is currently approaching 100,000 subscribers. His main focus is psilocybin mushroom cultivation and mycology, but he covers other psychedelics and topics too.
He made a video about the history and science of MDMA production earlier this year.
“I document my travels around the world finding amazing fungi and take you into the lab and grow room to show you how to do everything step by step,” he explained in the bio.
It’s official! The first ever full video of a step by step LSD synthesis is out for the first time in the 86 years since it was first made! This is history in the making. LSD comes from a grain fungus, in case you didn’t know
The powerful psychedelic drug is derived from ergot — a fungus that grows on grains such as rye, oats and barley. It has multiple other derivatives with medical applications too.
The United States Forest Service has described ergot as “the psychoactive fungus that changed history.”
The LSD therein was first synthesized by the Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann in 1938 before he discovered its psychedelic properties five years later after accidentally being exposed to it through skin absorption or inhalation.
Hofmann made this groundbreaking ball-tripping discovery during his time working for the pharmaceutical company Sandoz Group ADR (OTCMKTS: SDZNY).
It only takes a tiny quantity to send a person on a powerful trip. The drug gets measured in micrograms.
