Australia’s White Cliff Minerals Ltd (ASX: WCN) says it has encountered more widespread copper, gold, silver and uranium mineralization at its early-stage mining site in the Northwest Territories.
The new discoveries include four iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG) hydrothermal systems and hot uranium samples clocking in at up to 4,000 counts per second. These have reinforced the junior’s enthusiasm for its upcoming inaugural drill campaign.
“We continue to discover targets that represent newly identified, spatially separate mineralized systems, indicating the opportunity for multiple discoveries,” Managing Director Troy Whittaker said.
These discoveries were made with help from Expert Geophysics, which recently completed a Mobile MagnetoTellurics (MobileMT) survey at Great Bear Lake. This technology is capable of identifying geological features up to 1,000 metres below the surface. Several companies employ Expert Geophysics to assist with their exploration programs.
In particular, White Cliff says it identified widespread IOCG mineralization within structural corridors at two newly delineated target areas. Namely, Spud Bay and Cleaver.

White Cliff preps for exploration at ‘Nunavut Project’
Following completion of the recent exploration work at Great Bear Lake, White Cliff will now be conducting similar labour at its nearby Nunavut operation.
“Adding to the excitement of these discoveries at Great Bear Lake – works will shortly commence in Nunavut where we are targeting high-grade, volcanic hosted copper-silver lodes,” Whittaker said. “They are prospective for high grade vein fill and bulk tonne sedimentary hosted copper deposits.”
Although copper, gold and silver are White Cliff’s focus at this project, Nunavut is known for being an emerging uranium mining district.
This is particularly true in the Thelon Basin. ATHA Energy Corp. (TSX-V: SASK) (OTCQB: SASKF) (FRA: X5U), Forum Energy Metals Corp. (TSX-V: FMC) and others have been completing extensive drilling in the region.
White Cliff just appointed the renowned businessman John Hancock as its new strategic advisor. He is the son of Gina Rinehart — a mining magnate and Australia’s wealthiest woman. He’s currently involved in an ugly legal battle with his mother over a control of a trust in Hancock Prospecting, Forbes says.
His grandfather, Lang Hancock, was an influential iron ore prospector.
