A multinational cannabis firm has signed an agreement with the company owned by a former National Football League (NFL) running back.

TILT Holdings Inc. (NEO: TILT) (OTCQX: TLLTF) announced on Friday it would be entering into a manufacturing and distribution arrangement with Highsman – a cannabis company founded by the football player Ricky Williams.

The Highsman addition to an ever-increasing group of TILT brand partners will be the first subsidiary focused on sports and athletics. TILT will be distributing Highsman products throughout its various retail locations and via wholesale channels within Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.

Highsman was founded in November last year with intentions of becoming popular among sports fans, athletic enthusiasts and various athletes. The company has created products with athletes in mind and incorporates a collection of sports-oriented apparel alongside the Pregame, Halftime and Postgame cannabis lines.

Pregame is a line of sativa cultivars, Halftime is a hybrid collection and Postgame is a series of indica to help figuratively wind down the game. TILT plans on launching the Highsman cultivar playbook this September in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts to celebrate the beginning of football season.

TILT owns three cannabis companies with operations in Canada, the European Union, Israel and South America. It also has operations and infrastructure throughout 37 American states.

Core subsidiaries owned by TILT include Jupiter Research LLC, Standard Farms Ohio LLC, Commonwealth Alternative Care Inc. and Standard Farms LLC in Pennsylvania. The company focuses on retail, processing, inhalation technologies, manufacturing and cultivation operations.

“Authenticity and unique brand architecture are two of the most important considerations for TILT when evaluating potential brand partnerships,” said Gary Santo, CEO of TILT

“You would be hard-pressed to find a group more equipped to meet those criteria than Ricky and the team he has assembled at Highsman,” he added.

Santo also expressed how thrilled the TILT team was to help introduce the Highsman brand to the east coast, and emphasized their passion for delivering high-quality cannabis to the markets the company operates in while assisting independent brands with establishing a reputation in the industry.

“TILT has a proven track record of significantly expanding the footprint of the cannabis brands they work with, and I am confident that our strategic partnership will further establish Highsman as a leading national brand,” Highsman CEO Eric Hammond said.
