Ya’thi Néné Lands and Resources is a non-profit dedicated to the well-being of Indigenous residents within the region

Saskatchewan’s uranium operator IsoEnergy Ltd. (TSX-V: ISO) initiated a collaboration agreement with a non-profit representing Athabasca Basin First Nations on Monday.

The company will cooperate with Ya’thi Néné Lands and Resources (YNLR) in critical areas such as permit processing, environmental preservation and protocol monitoring. The parties aim to ensure that local Indigenous communities are involved with and supportive of the work happening in their traditional territory.

Furthermore, the agreement aims to help facilitate community development initiatives while improving the local socio-economic landscape.

“This agreement marks an important milestone for our communities and future generations,” YNLR’s Board Chair Mary Denechezhe said. “Together, we are laying the groundwork for sustainable development in Nuhenéné [Athabasca Denesuline First Nations territory], ensuring that our people are involved and empowered throughout the process.”

IsoEnergy’s primary focus in the Athabasca Basin is its Laroque East operation and its Hurricane deposit. Hurricane is estimated to hold over 48.5 million pounds of yellowcake uranium at a notably high average grade of 34.5 per cent.

IsoEnergy prepares for extensive surveys this summer

The uranium miner will complete a series of helicopter, ground ambient noise tomography, magnetic and drone radiometric surveys at five of its other Saskatchewan sites later this year.

IsoEnergy’s vast land package in the Athabasca Basin spans over 200,000 hectares. The company currently has a partnership agreement with ATHA Energy Corp. (TSX-V: SASK) (OTCQB: SASKF) (FRA: X5U), which has a 10 per cent carried interest on certain portions of that section of land.

IsoEnergy secured a C$23 million private placement in February, which will help fund its activities in northern Canada and abroad.

The miner recently said that it is pleased about the new American ban on Russian uranium imports. IsoEnergy will be heading south next week for a mining conference hosted by Canaccord Genuity Corp. (TSX: CF).
