Medical patients in the United States may reap the benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) powered preventative care solutions in the coming months.

HEALWELL AI Inc. (TSX: AIDX) (OTCQX: HWAIF) announced on Thursday that it signed services agreements with WELL Health Technologies Corp. (TSX: WELL) subsidiary WELL Health USA and its affiliate Circle Medical Technologies Inc.

The services agreements grant will grant HEALWELL’s U.S. patients access to its subsidiaries Pentavere Research Group Inc. and Khure Health Corporation.

This access is to facilitate earlier diagnosis and identification of patients with potential risk of certain conditions, determine patient eligibility for approved medications or interventions, optimize patient care pathways and enhance patient health outcomes overall.

“Since executing the strategic alliance agreement with WELL, one of our primary strategic initiatives has been to expand our AI technology offerings and capabilities throughout the WELL ecosystem,” Dr. Alexander Dobranowski, CEO of HEALWELL, said.

“Enabling WELL USA and Circle Medical providers is a demonstration of this commitment and a major step forward for HEALWELL into the U.S. market. Our partnerships with WELL USA and Circle Medical allow for our AI technology and clinical decision support capabilities to now also replicate the success of using AI in the Canadian market into the US.”

HEALWELL subsidiary CRH Medical operates over 100 Gastrointestinal (GI) only service sites. The company has used Pentavere’s DARWEN AI platform to identify data from approximately 200,000 patients across 21 states.

This platform facilitates the generation of high-quality, real-world data on the relationships between biologic prescribing, clinic demographics, and outcomes to aid patients suffering from Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and other gastrointestinal conditions.

The goal is to use this information to enhance the understanding of how different factors, such as the type of medication prescribed and patient characteristics, influence treatment outcomes. Ultimately, this partnership aims to support sub-optimally treated IBD patients in the US, thereby reducing healthcare costs and alleviating the burden on healthcare systems.

The company can empower CRH Medical’s GI partners to effectively use existing data and uncover valuable insights hidden within extensive clinical records by using the DARWEN AI platform, according to Jay Kreger, CEO of WELL USA.

“We are committed to further supporting our physician partners by demonstrating how AI can help them better understand their patient populations, optimize the course of their treatment and ultimately improve their patient outcomes,” Kreger said.

Khure has partnered with Circle Medical to integrate its proprietary AI platform with Circle’s electronic medical record (EMR) system, thus expanding its presence in the US market.

Circle Medical currently offers virtual care services in over 30 states and operates 23 physical locations across the country. It also provides access to over 75 percent of the American population.

Khure will employ its proprietary machine learning algorithms using Circle’s clinical data sets to analyze and identify individual patients who may warrant further investigation for specific conditions, aiming for early disease diagnosis.

Additionally, Khure will be capable of screening US patient cohorts potentially eligible for clinical trials. As a leader in primary-based care services in the U.S., Circle Medical is also currently experiencing rapid growth, with a run-rate exceeding 700,000 patient visits per year.
