China’s electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng Inc – ADR (NYSE: XPEV) (FRA: 8XPA) has been in the spotlight after announcing plans to mass produce humanoid robots and airborne vehicles. The company will potentially invest up to US$13.8 billion starting in 2026, according to a report from Chinese state media.
XPeng’s “Iron” AI-integrated robot is already helping the company build cars at its factory in Guangzhou. The robots rival the Optimus Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) (ETR: TL0) Bots in the United States. XPeng formally revealed the real-life droid last fall.
He Xiaopeng, CEO of XPeng, has big aspirations for the Iron androids and plans to get them into retail settings, homes, offices and other locations. Not just factories.
The Asian tech producer has been completing test flights with its flying cars in preparation for broad distribution too. The AeroHT skycraft made its debut at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. XPeng aims to have 10,000 of these bad boys ready to go by the end of 2025 with deliveries to commence next year.
The company’s goal is to be the first international distributor and secure first mover advantage in the skies. XPeng’s ambitions are expensive, but it has proven its ability to raise capital in the past. A US$1.5-billion-dollar IPO in 2020, US$5 billion in subsequent funding rounds and a US$2 billion-dollar line of credit secured from Chinese banks in 2021 demonstrate this competency.

Xpeng makes Malaysian debut
XPeng has a strong global presence with offices outside of China in the United States, Germany and the Netherlands. Recently, the company has been expanding its reach throughout Southeast Asia.
XPeng now has two vehicles available for residents in Malaysia: the G6 SUV, launched last year, and the X9 van, which just made its way into the country. The van has recently gone up for sale in Singapore and Thailand too.
In H2 this year, the company will start producing cars in Indonesia.
XPeng has been delivering more than 30,000 vehicles to international customers every month. This number continues to rise.
The Guangzhou-based multi-faceted firm was founded in 2014 with a focus on standard electric automobiles. Since that time it has developed more futuristic ambitions.
