Calibre Mining Corp (TSE: CXB) (OTCMKTS: CXBMF) needs skilled tradespeople and a variety of other professionals to maintain Newfoundland’s Valentine Gold Mine. The project will soon become the top gold-producing asset in Atlantic Canada.
On Feb. 25, the mining company will be hosting an open house in Corner Brook to educate prospective employees about the diverse career opportunities it can offer them.
Calibre is seeking engineers, electricians, welding apprentices, millwrights, drill operators, general labourers, crane operators and several other knowledgeable workers to make operations run smoothly at the site.
“We’re heading into a transformational year with the inclusion of Valentine,” corporate development and investor relations manager, Ryan King, said in a recent interview. “We’re going from Nicaragua and Nevada only to three different producing asset bases and almost doubling our production profile.”
First gold will be produced at the mine next quarter, marking the beginning of a profitable 14-year mine life. It will churn out 195,000 ounces of the yellow metal for the first 12 years and serve as a significant contributor to the provincial economy.
Construction was over 85 per cent complete by the end of November and has now progressed even further. Engineers nearly have everything squared away as well.
Little work remains before commercial production becomes the norm for well over a decade. The project has three rich deposits: Marathon, Berry and Leprechaun.

Valentine could yield numerous additional discoveries
Calibre intercepted long intervals of gold mineralization at the Valentine property last year, indicating that the site has untapped resources in multiple directions.
“Hole FZ-24-048 contained 2.43 grams per tonne gold over 172.8 metres and FZ-24-046 yielded 2.12 g/t gold over 95.4 metres,” chief executive Darren Hall explained in November. “This is very encouraging given the grades and widths, with mineralization importantly remaining open laterally, vertically and up-dip.”
Hall says Calibre has unearthed substantial quantities of gold up to 1,000 metres away from the Leprechaun pit. The 250-square-kilometre land package likely has multiple rich gold veins waiting to be discovered.
Valentine is one of the most promising gold assets under development in the world.
“It’s going to be an exciting year ahead as we add new production from the Valentine Gold Mine in Canada and progress the largest drill programs across all assets,” King said recently.
