Wix.com (NASDAQ:WIX) is now an official partner of open source user interface software framework, React Native (RN).

React Native partnership has Wix taking a greater role in promoting open source programming and advancing the RN framework.

“It’s an honor to be a part of the group that influences and shapes the future of open source. Wix has always supported the open source community but will now take a more proactive role in improving and advancing its efforts. We look forward to sharing our expertise and experience with the global community and providing our developers, and the developer community as a whole, with advanced tools to build native cross-platform mobile apps,” said Aviran Mordo, vice president of Engineering at Wix.

Wix helps the average person get an online presence. When Wix first started in 2006 that was limited to mainly helping people build a website, but now it’s a complete platform offering users enterprise-grade performance, security and an entire infrastructure to build from. It offers a wide range of business options, including advanced search engine optimization, marketing tools, and data and branding controls.

React Native

Wix has acquired access to one of the largest RN codebases in the world due to its early adopter status, even as it contributes over 30 different RN open source projects. Some of these include the Detox testing framework, RN UILib, RN Navigation, RN Calendars, RN Notifications. Also, the Wix Owner App, which is commonly employed by Wix users to help their businesses, was created using RN.

Both advanced developers and React beginners can use RN, and thousands of apps are built using RN everyday. Additionally, some of these users include Fortune 500 companies to startups.

What RN does is build a bridge between programming languages to help build cross-platform mobile applications. Customers can use React, an open-source JavaScript library, to create user-interface components alongside native platform capabilities for apps on a multitude of different platforms. Some of these platforms include Android, Android TV, iOS, macOS, tvOS, Web, Windows, and UWP. Also, the framework gives developers the ability to use the same codebase for iOS and Android.
