Sokoman Minerals Corp. (CVE: SIC) (OTCMKTS: SICNF) has mobilized a drill to its Fleur de Lys Property and intends to start on its 2,000 meter, Phase 1 program to test historical showings and targets the company generated during its 2021-2024 till/prospecting programs.

The company said on Friday that it plans on drilling 20 holes at an average depth of 100 meters. Drilling is set to start at the southern end of the area to test previously identified targets that hadn’t been tested since in the 1980’s. The program will then end in the Golden Bull area the company discovered in 2023. The new prospect is in the central portion of the six to eight square kilometer target area, with half of the program planned for Golden Bull.

The Golden Bull Prospect features 124 grab samples that include visible gold. Of these, 34 samples contain more than 500 ppb Au with the highest concentration reached 9,020 ppb (9.02 g/t) Au.

The samples were collected from laterally extensive stylolitic quartz float comprising angular to sub-angular boulders and highlight the potential for additional undiscovered gold zones. These are significant because they may indicate the presence of structurally controlled gold mineralization.

Furthermore, approximately 50 per cent of the grab samples from the Golden Bull area have shown values above 100 ppb Au.

Sokoman has searched for three years for similar gold types

“The Curraghinalt deposit in Northern Ireland, hosting more than six million ounces of gold, is currently one of the largest undeveloped gold deposits in the Caledonian-Appalachian Orogen,” said Timothy Froude, president and CEO of Sokoman Minerals.

The connection to Northern Ireland in this context refers to the Dalradian-type orogenic gold mineralization.

The Dalradian Supergroup is a geological formation in Northern Ireland.  It’s known for hosting significant gold deposits, such as the Curraghinalt gold deposit.

The company’s exploration efforts over the past three years have aimed to find similar types of gold mineralization, suggesting that the geological environment of the property being explored may share characteristics with the Dalradian terrain in Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Beyond the Fleur de Lys property, Sokoman has a well-established presence in the gold mining scene in Newfoundland.

Its flagship project is the Moosehead Gold Project in central Newfoundland and has drawn attention for its high-grade gold discoveries. Sokoman also holds the Crippleback Lake Project, situated in another highly prospective area for gold within central Newfoundland.

Central Newfoundland is a vibrant hub for gold exploration and mining. Specifically, Calibre Mining (TSE: CXB) (OTCMKTS: CXBMF) operates the Valentine Gold Mine. This is known for its substantial gold reserves and ongoing development.
