There’s only one country that renowned actor and marijuana smoker Seth Rogen won’t risk indulging in.
In an interview with radio show host Howard Stern on Wednesday, he said that he generally smokes weed daily, but once had to stop for three days in 2011 when he visited Singapore. That was the last time the Pineapple Express star went 24 hours without lighting up.
“Those days I didn’t smoke weed because they’ll literally fucking kill you if you smoke weed in that country,” he explained. “They put a little thing in your passport when you arrive that says ‘if we find drugs on you, we will execute you.'”
That being said, possession of a small amount of cannabis in Singapore won’t actually get you the death penalty, just a massive fine and up to 10 years in jail. But, if you were to get caught with a pound or more officials in the country would assume it was for trafficking and they would actually kill you.
The Asian nation has some of the strictest drug laws on the planet, as well as its neighbours Indonesia and Malaysia.
“I can’t tell you how many times I’ve flown places and then got there and opened a pocket or something and been like ‘oh shit, there’s a fucking roach in my pocket.'”
“So that was a scary walk through the airport in Singapore.”

Rogen claims he is ‘gifted’ at processing weed
In an interview with The Guardian earlier this month, the performer said that it messes with alot of people, but not him.
“For sure I process it differently than other people do,” Rogen explained.
It’s just a part of his regular everyday routine that he doesn’t question. Rogen claims it does not hinder his performance and serves as a necessary therapeutic feature of his life.
“I’m not physically gifted in many ways, but there’s one way in which I am, which is in my ability to process weed.”
Aside from his pineapple chronic-themed adventure film with James Franco in 2008, Rogen’s screen characters have burned cannabis flower in a couple of other movies like Knocked Up (2007) and This is the End in 2013.
He and his childhood friend Evan Goldberg, who collaborated with Rogen on multiple films, launched the cannabis lifestyle brand “Houseplant” in 2019. It sells premium flower along with fancy ashtrays, lighters, stash jars and other accessories.
Recently, the brand expanded its repertoire with infused beverages.
