Michigan-based Platform Robotics will show off its marijuana-trimming devices for the first time early next month at the MJBizCon 2024 event in Las Vegas.
Platform Robotics has created the “Softrim” 1000 for indoor cultivation applications and the 2000 model for outdoor-grown flower trimming. These machines are unique because they use silicon arms to gently massage leaves off of buds. The tech currently has pending patents.
“This technology, and the results it can provide, is a true breakthrough for the industry’s volume cannabis growers,” co-founder John Baldiga boasted in a news release. It has been tested with over 100 strains and 100,000 pounds of buds.
MJBizCon is one of the world’s most renowned cannabis industry events. This year, it will feature over 140 speakers from various niches, awards, a seed genetics “Vault,” and a plethora of other intriguing things for weed enthusiasts.
Over 30,000 marijuana industry professionals will be attending. There will be approximately 1,400 exhibitors present. Many refer to it as the “Super Bowl of Cannabis.”

Other trimming machines are out there, but they work differently
Another company based in Las Vegas has been developing a different variety of flowering trimming machine.
Leafman’s AI-powered “Alien-Trimmer” system uses self-sharpening blades to trim cannabis. The company claims it can shave up to 1,000 pounds of bud per hour.
“Alien Trimmer is equipped with state-of-the-art AI microprocessors that monitor the quality and volume of the buds entering the machine and make instant adjustments to the speed and degree of trimming,” Leafman specified.
Also notable is Triminator, which has four different machine models for different quantities and moisture levels.
This company showed off some of its trimming tech at last year’s MJBizCon cannabis-palooza.
