Choose Ketamine now offering at-home treatments in several states

Company intends to provide ketamine therapy at a much lower price than a visit to the clinic would cost

A psychedelic therapy company based in Austin, Texas is offering a more affordable alternative for those seeking the benefits that ketamine can offer.

Choose Ketamine is a wellness platform that is now connecting patients with psychiatric practitioners that can prescribe orally administered ketamine lozenges if one meets the right criteria.

Those who receive prescriptions can then simply take the medication at home while a virtual guide on their screen helps facilitate the experience. Choose Ketamine lists multiple disorders that the psychedelic can help treat.

“The goal is to increase access to this treatment while maintaining patient safety and quality of care,” said Dr. Stephanie Lyn Coleman, a medical advisor at Choose Ketamine.

“This is achieved by creating protocols for patient selection and treatment using a team approach, data from recent research, and patient feedback.”

In the past, ketamine treatments have generally been administered intravenously at a hospital or clinic. Choose Ketamine says this conventional means of treating people with the psychedelic prevented many from being able to access it due to the high price of treatments, discomfort and distance to travel in order to receive it.

The company describes its new at-home treatments as safe, affordable, effective and convenient. It says the average cost for a clinical IV/infusion treatment can be anywhere between US$400-$1,200 and that Choose Ketamine patients will only be charged US$158 per treatment with the additional option of paying for treatment plans in installments.

The company plans to offer its services across the entirety of the United States by Q3 next year and currently serves California, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, Florida, Iowa, Ohio, Minnesota, New Jersey, Colorado, Washington and Massachusetts.
