Chinese sleep tech creator QREM has developed an AI-integrated mattress that constantly adjusts itself into alignment with the user’s body to help them get ample rest.
Officially launched last month and formally revealed in a news release by the company on Monday, this bed aims to offer the most custom-tailored sleeping experience possible.
To accomplish this, QREM has embedded 2,048 sensors throughout the mattress that continuously monitor body movement and vital signs. Twenty four columns that prioritize supporting seven muscle groups are aligned by a control unit at the foot of the bed.
When setting it up initially, users punch in information about their sleeping habits and size. It then uses this information while constantly gathering data to make them as comfortable as it possibly can.
Its proprietary “Ekaggata Algorithm” was inspired by Buddhist meditation, QREM says.
“It creates micro-adjustments for different minor strains and obstacles for users, and changes continuously as the user alternates between lying upright and lying on the side at night,” QREM specified on its website.
Each side of the mattress works independently.
“Whether lying on your back or side, it can match the shoulder and neck differences of different body shapes and sleeping positions, thereby relieving shoulder and neck pressure and maintaining a neutral spine position.”
QREM was founded in Shenzhen three years ago and claims to have completed over 2,000 human studies on the bed since that time.
The market for smart mattresses like these has become highly competitive. Companies like Eight Sleep, Sleep Number and Tempur-Pedic have developed their own, but they are not as advanced as QREM’s and don’t have nearly as many sensors. China continues to amaze with its technology expertise.
