Calibre Mining helps bring clean drinking water to thousands of Nicaraguans

The gold producer has a lengthy track record of beneficial community initiatives in the country

Thousands of Nicaraguan families now have access to a steady supply of clean drinking water, thanks to a partnership between Calibre Mining Corp (TSE: CXB) (OTCMKTS: CXBMF) (FRA: WCLA) and regional organizations.

Alongside a local mayor’s office and water authority, Calibre has helped bring potable H2O to approximately 9,000 locals residing near the company’s Limon gold mining complex.

“This is a great day for the population of El Limón, Santa Pancha and Minvah,” local Francisco José Jarquín said. “It provides practical benefits.”

The initiative involved constructing new well equipment, water storage units and control booths. Also, rehabilitating existing wells, water tanks and control facilities. The parties involved set up necessary plumbing systems and provided in-home water hookups to residents.

“We’re incredibly proud to have played a role in improving the health, well-being and daily lives of our neighbours!” Calibre said.

One of many beneficial community initiatives in Nicaragua

Calibre’s positive engagement with locals in Central America is something the company takes very seriously.

The gold mine operator’s activities have included animal rescue, assisting Nicaraguan beekeepers, providing education to locals and even helping women establish a business selling baked goods.

In 2023, Calibre planted 129,260 trees in the country. Moreover, the company is engaged with extensive biodiversity monitoring near the Limon Complex, Libertad Mine and Eastern Borosi project.

“We undertake biodiversity monitoring every year at each of our sites, and the data we collect provides information for a national database that tracks the population and distribution of various flora and fauna species,” Calibre specified recently.

A couple of years ago, Calibre released a short documentary showcasing its beneficial involvement with local communities.
