Nova Scotia-based cannabis producer Aqualitas Inc. donated 1 per cent of the profits from its Reef Organic True Colours brand sales to 2SLGBTQIA+ programs in Canada.
This National Coming Out Day, the sustainability-focused company announced that its PRIDE 2022 initiative it has already gathered $5,000 from the sales of 17,967 True Colours products from June 1-Sept. 30.
The initiative was announced this June in partnership with the 2SLGBTQIA+ advocate organizations Egale Canada and the Nova Scotia Rainbow Action Project (NSRAP).
“The goal of the initiative was to provide a portion of profits to organizations driving social and environmental change and its four core values are to enable diversity, to be inclusive of all communities, to protect the planet and to seek truth and reconciliation,” wrote the company on a Tweet.
“Thank you to all the retailers, Budtenders, customers and industry folks who supported this initiative throughout the summer. And a special thank you to our esteemed advisory committee for their guidance. We couldn’t have done this without you.”

Aqualitas is a Canadian cannabis producer that uses aquaculture and organic living soil. Instead of Coho Salmon, the company uses Koi fish that they don’t farm. That company says its method uses no synthetic fertilizers, provides shorter growing times, spends 50 per cent less energy and uses 90 per cent less water.
The company recently partnered with Veterans for Healing Ltd. of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia to deliver medical cannabis to Canadian Veterans. The AQ-Together Veterans Program is a personalized service to educate, assist, and onboard veterans from across Canada to the Aqualitas online platform of medical cannabis products.
