Dr Dang’s Lab has launched a new portfolio of digestive health tests designed to help doctors identify the causes of common gastrointestinal symptoms through advanced, non-invasive diagnostics.
The announcement coincided with World Digestive Health Day and centres on expanded access to breath testing and other specialised investigations for gut related disorders. The company said the new testing suite will support earlier diagnosis and more personalised treatment strategies for patients experiencing chronic digestive symptoms.
The portfolio includes breath tests that help identify conditions such as Helicobacter pylori infection, Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) and carbohydrate malabsorption. These disorders can contribute to symptoms including bloating, gas, abdominal discomfort, constipation, diarrhoea and irregular bowel habits.
According to the laboratory, digestive disorders affect a significant portion of the global population. Studies suggest nearly 40 per cent of people experience gastrointestinal symptoms at some point.
In India, processed diets, rising stress levels and frequent antibiotic use have contributed to growing concerns about digestive health. Additionally, changing lifestyles have increased the prevalence of conditions linked to gut dysfunction.
Dr Dang’s Lab said its approach combines breath testing with other clinically relevant investigations. Consequently, clinicians may gain a clearer understanding of the underlying causes of digestive complaints rather than relying solely on symptom based assessments.
Dr Arjun Dang, the laboratory’s chief executive officer and partner, said many people dismiss digestive symptoms as minor inconveniences. However, he noted that persistent bloating, acidity and irregular bowel habits can sometimes indicate infections, bacterial overgrowth or nutrient absorption problems.

Testing menu includes tests for H. pylori among other issues
Dr. Dang’s Lab is a New Delhi based diagnostic laboratory founded in 1983 that provides pathology, molecular diagnostics, preventive health screening and specialised testing services across India.
The laboratory serves patients, physicians, hospitals and clinical research organisations through a network of collection centres and testing facilities. It offers a broad range of services, including genetic testing, allergy diagnostics, infectious disease screening and advanced gastrointestinal assessments.
The company maintains National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) accreditation and follows Good Clinical Laboratory Practice standards. The laboratory has expanded its focus on precision diagnostics and specialised healthcare testing.
Dang said the company developed the new testing portfolio to make advanced digestive diagnostics more accessible. Furthermore, the goal is to help physicians identify root causes earlier and support better informed treatment decisions.
The testing menu includes Urea Breath Tests for H. pylori infections and hydrogen and methane breath tests for SIBO and malabsorption syndromes. It also features celiac disease profiles and HLA genetic testing.
Additionally, the company offers assessments that evaluate nutrient absorption and digestive function. These tests aim to provide a broader picture of gastrointestinal health.
Through partnerships with international laboratories, Dr Dang’s Lab has expanded access to specialised investigations. These include microbiome profiling, food intolerance testing, gut permeability assessments and nutrigenomics.
The portfolio also incorporates organic acids testing and digestive enzyme evaluations. Consequently, clinicians can examine multiple factors that may influence digestive wellbeing.
According to the company, the combined testing strategy evaluates biological, microbial, inflammatory and metabolic factors. It also examines nutritional, enzymatic and gut barrier related markers.

Breath diagnostics expanding beyond digestive health
Select breath tests can be completed at home. Furthermore, the company said home collection options improve convenience while maintaining diagnostic accuracy.
Dr Dang’s Lab said the service is supported by advanced analytical platforms and specialist clinical interpretation. Additionally, laboratory experts review each report through multiple quality control stages before results reach patients and healthcare providers.
The company stated that all specialised tests meet its NABL accreditation requirements and comply with Good Clinical Laboratory Practice standards. Consequently, the laboratory aims to maintain consistent quality and reliability across its diagnostic services.
Untreated gastrointestinal disorders can lead to nutritional deficiencies, chronic inflammation and reduced energy levels. They may also affect the gut brain axis and overall quality of life.
The company said the new portfolio is intended to encourage earlier evaluation of persistent digestive symptoms. Meanwhile, physicians can use the results to support personalised dietary guidance, supplementation strategies and treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
Breath based diagnostics have expanded well beyond digestive health in recent years.
Researchers and companies now use breath analysis to detect a wide range of conditions and substances through the chemical compounds present in exhaled air.
For example, law enforcement agencies have evaluated breath based roadside screening devices designed to identify recent cannabis use. Meanwhile, healthcare developers have explored breath testing for infectious diseases, metabolic disorders and respiratory conditions.
Companies such as Breath Diagnostics Inc. have developed technologies like OneBreath, which aims to detect lung cancer through a simple breath sample.
Additionally, researchers continue investigating breath biomarkers for diseases including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes and certain gastrointestinal disorders, offering a non invasive alternative to more invasive diagnostic procedures.
