Country music legend Willie Nelson has been channelling his passion for the cannabis plant into a booming business venture.
Across the United States, his hemp-derived THC drinks “Willie’s Remedy+” have been selling like hot cakes. More than 400,000 bottles have been purchased since the drink line launched in partnership with JuneShine Brands in March of 2025, making it one of the top selling cannabinoid beverages in the country.
Now, with a projected inaugural run rate of US$80 million, Nelson just announced that his company has raised US$15 million to help expand the brand’s reach even further.
His distaste for alcohol has been a key factor fuelling his ambitions with the seltzers. The singer and guitarist aims to offer a libation that gives a gentle buzz without morning hangover regrets.
“I gave up alcohol and tobacco a long time ago [1978] and switched to pot,” he stated in a press release about the fundraising round led by Left Lane Capital. “Marijuana should be recognized for what it is: a remedy. I’m excited to share my remedy with the world.”
His latest funding is earmarked for putting Willie’s Remedy+ sips in stores throughout the country such as Total Wine, Lowe’s Companies Inc (NYSE: LOW) (FRA: LWE) and liquor store chain Binny’s.
This isn’t Willie’s first rodeo with a THC-infused business endeavour. In 2015, he created Willie’s Reserve, which still offers flower, edibles and other goods today.
This latest venture has helped to cement Nelson’s throne as one of the world’s most famous cannabis enthusiasts. The 92-year-old’s reputation has grown over many years through unapologetic advocacy and weaving pot into his music and persona since the 1970s.
Nelson has been serving as co-chair of the NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) Advisory Board for decades. The man once smoked a joint on the roof of the White House with former President Jimmy Carter’s son Chip.
His love for weed has gotten him arrested multiple times in states like Louisiana and Texas.
