NevGold expands Limo Butte footprint by staking 90 promising antimony-gold claims

Historical samples in the area have yielded up to 0.67% antimony

NevGold Corp (CVE: NAU) (OTCMKTS: NAUFF) (FRA: 5E50) has added 6 square kilometres of highly prospective antimony-gold claims to its land package at Nevada’s Limousine Butte project. Their geology is similar to areas of the site that have yielded the highest-grade mineralization.

Announced on Dec. 17, the 90 claim addition is expected to help expand the operation’s known mineralized footprint as NevGold works toward producing an inaugural mineral resource estimate. It will ideally be released by the end of 2025.

Notably, the geological setting of these claims is nearly identical to the “Bullet Zone” where the junior mining company intercepted its highest grade antimony interval drilled to date earlier this month.

This significant result consisted of 5.51 per cent antimony and 0.06 grams per tonne gold (Au) over 4.6 metres, or 21.49 g/t Au equivalent.

The core sample confirmed that NevGold has a sizeable area of near-surface high-grade antimony mineralization. It represents one of the highest-grade antimony discoveries in the United States since the modern-day resurgence of the metal’s popularity began.

Claims to help expand Limo Butte’s primary target area

Historical samples taken in the newly staked area have returned assays as high as 0.67 per cent antimony. Furthermore, a more recent sample pulled by NevGold contained a considerable 8.74 g/t Au.

Chief Executive Officer Brandon Bonifacio has explained that the claims extend the expansion potential of the Resurrection Ridge target area by approximately 4 kilometres. The current drill campaign is prioritizing this section of the property. Thirty holes have been drilled thus far with assay results expected soon.

Additionally, NevGold has completed Phase 1 antimony-gold sampling of the Crushed Ore and Run-of-Mine Ore leach pads from the site’s past-producing Golden Butte pit. This previously mined section of the Resurrection Ridge area produced over 100,000 gold ounces between 1989 to 1990.

“As Limo Butte is a brownfield mine site, one key advantage is having a large amount of historically mined material already on surface in the leach pads that had a previous focus only on gold mineralization,” Bonifacio highlighted.

“The historically mined leach pads are a significant, near-surface antimony opportunity that we are rapidly advancing,” he added.

NevGold’s continued mining ambitions at Limo Butte are backed by C$10 million in financing the company secured in November.

Nevada is an American critical minerals leader

The U.S. government has identified antimony as a commodity of strategic importance alongside copper, lithium, tungsten, and dozens of other commodities. Nevada holds nearly half of them.

NevGold has one of the most promising antimony development projects in the state. Global Tactical Metals Corp (CNSX: MONI) (FRA: A7F) and Military Metals Corp (CNSX: MILI) (OTCMKTS: MILIF) (FRA: QN90) are others pursuing the element in Nevada as the pricing environment remains favourable and demand persists.

Antimony is essential for a broad assortment of military technologies. As the shortage brought on by China continues to be a national security problem, the need to fulfill domestic defence demands is enormous.

“The military needs a secure supply chain for aircraft carriers, ships and armour,” said Nevada Mining Association President, Amanda Hilton, on Wednesday.

Moreover, Hilton recently attended a meeting at the Pentagon where this dire need was a key topic of conversation.

“Nevada is uniquely positioned to provide these materials,” she added. Hilton has highlighted that several of the minerals the military needs occur naturally within the ground in the state.

Copper and silver, two metals that Nevada is renowned for producing considerable quantities of, were also recently added to the United States Geological Survey’s critical minerals list.
