As Canadians approach herd immunity just in time for a sizzling summer of awkward romance, they’ll have the option of cooling their heads with the first legal cannabis freezie.

On Wednesday, Toronto-based Heritage Cannabis Holdings Corp. (CSE: CANN) (OTCQX: HERTF) said its RADsicle is already on the way to some Canadian distributors.

The frozen edibles will be available in a variety pack of four with 2.5 milligrams of THC each, or a single-flavour 10-milligram freezie.

The RADsicle comes in the classic blue raspberry, cherry, cream soda and grape flavours.

The first shipment of freezies has been sent to the Ontario Cannabis Store and will be available in other provinces within the next two months.

When asked about pricing on Twitter, Premium 5 joked it was “hoping under $100,” taking a jab at the high markup on Canadian cannabis products at retail.

“This will be an exciting summer for Heritage as we add to our portfolio of popular products with first-of-its-kind recreational and medical offerings, staying at the leading edge of product innovation in order to deliver consumers products they want, and capture and maintain shelf-space across Canada,” said David Schwede, president of recreational for Heritage, in a statement this week.

Heritage offers products to the medical and recreational markets in Canada and U.S. and has two licensed manufacturing facilities in Fort Erie, Ontario and Falkland, British Columbia. Its brands include Purefarma, Pura Vida, RAD, Premium 5, Bloom, feelgood. and ArthroCBD.

Heritage fans don’t have to wait long until more products come along.

The company says it’s in the final development stages to launch five new products including live rosin, live CBD concentrates and softgel capsules. The products will be available in B.C. mid-June, and in other provinces shortly after.

On Monday, the company said Health Canada approved its cannabis research licence through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Voyage Cannabis Corp.

The licence lets Heritage conduct research at their Falkland, B.C., facility as well as analysis and trials for the development of its medical and recreational weed products.

“Our innovation team now has the competitive advantage it needs to continue to employ best practices in product evaluation, and tailor products that complement our already popular line of extracts and extract derivatives,” Heritage CEO Clint Sharples says.

“This is an exciting milestone for Heritage as we prepare to launch our products and brands in the U.S. market following the completion of our recently announced acquisition of Bloom Brands in the U.S.”
