American CBD wellness brand Green Roads has become a sponsor of the Arthritis Foundation, alongside of the launch of a new roll-on product targeted at treating symptoms of the widespread condition.
On Tuesday, the company — which is a subsidiary of Canadian producer The Valens Company Inc. (TSX: VLNS) (Nasdaq: VLNS) — said it donated US$120,000 to support the foundation’s initiative of improving quality of life for people living with chronic pain.
Valens notes that arthritis is the leading cause of disability in the U.S., and physical pain is one of the most pervasive conditions caused by the disease.
“We are excited to have Green Roads join us in our mission to improve quality of life for the nearly 60 million Americans who have been diagnosed with a form of arthritis,” says Katie Bobin, VP of development and community giving at the Arthritis Foundation.
“Their support will help fuel the fight to conquer arthritis through the scientific advancements, advocacy, patient education and community of support and connections the Arthritis Foundation is known for leading,” she said in a statement.
As part of the sponsorship, Green Roads has committed to the foundation’s pain initiative to aid in reducing life’s painful moments. The company’s support will go towards establishing new tools and resources for pain solutions.
“As a company, Green Roads is 100-per-cent focused on helping people feel better today than they did yesterday,” says Tyler Robson, CEO of The Valens Company.
“Supporting the Arthritis Foundation’s long-term work and creating products that can provide benefits to millions of arthritis patients align perfectly with our mission and our purpose.”

Alongside the sponsorship, Green Roads is launching its Arthritis Pain Relief Roll-On, an over-the-counter product designed to relieve pain from arthritis. A three-fluid-ounce (89-millilitre) bottle of the formulation contains 1,500 milligrams of hemp-derived CBD with other ingredients like menthol and camphor.
According to the statement, Green Roads employee Steve Michaels, who has severe rheumatoid arthritis, helped develop the product. “I joined Green Roads in 2018 because of the impact this brand had already had on my life,” he said.
Preliminary research shows CBD has anti-inflammatory effects on muscle tissue, but there has yet to be large clinical trials to prove these claims.
