Convey911 selected NextNav’s (NASDAQ:NN) precision vertical location service on Thursday to provide better support for 911 emergencies in the United States.
Convey911 providers callers and agencies with the ability to engage in a text conversation in their native languages using a patent protected web-based communications platform. Integration of NextNav’s location service means other agencies using Convey911’s system will be able to use data and visualizations to accomplish their goals.
“Having the ability to provide native-language communications for millions of Americans, particularly in times of crisis, reduces errors and provides a more human approach to serving the public. With the increase in multi-modal communications for 911, 211, 511 and now 988, agencies do not have the resources to staff the dynamics of the changing landscape of public service. Now, with NextNav’s industry-leading z-axis service integrated into Convey911’s platform, those who need to be located in times of crisis will be, regardless of language, nationality or elevation,” said Dan Hight, VP of business development and partnerships at NextNav.
Convey911’s service minimizes the possibility that information could be lost in translation. Similarly, NextNav’s Pinnacle network provides precise vertical location data for 4,400 cities and towns. This includes 90 per cent of buildings with more than three stories in the United States. People need a reliable means to find help and to be able to communicate when they get it. Overcoming a language barrier can be time-consuming, and when time is in short supply, that can be critical.

Convey911 provides translation services in real time
Convey911 is a web-based tool giving public safety agencies optional text and multimedia messaging in over 136 languages and dialects. NextNav, in contrast, has an ecosystem of applications and services involving vertical location and geolocation technology. Its Pinnacle network delivers accurate positioning, reflecting the three dimensional world. These two technologies combined would help service providers locate the emergency in space, and communicate using their language.
“Our real-time location services provide a breadcrumb mapping experience for locating callers and citizens for both 911 and non-emergency scenarios. And, with the ability now to add the ‘Holy Grail’ of location (z-axis) from NextNav, our agency clients will have the most precise location available in the industry for x, y, and z,” said Jeff Bruns, CEO and co-founder of Convey911.
