Canadian cannabis retailer High Tide Inc. (TSXV: HITI) (Nasdaq: HITI) (FSE: 2LYA) is launching two-hour guaranteed delivery from some of its Canna Cabana chain locations.

On Tuesday, the leading retail firm said it’s now offering the service at participating stores in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, and has plans to expand to all Canna Cabana locations across Canada.

Plans for expansion include Alberta, where private retailers will be able to deliver cannabis starting next month, and where most of High Tide’s stores are located.

The company has more than 100 stores in Canada, 60 of which are in Alberta.

High Tide says delivery will be guaranteed on all orders from participating stores within two hours of the order being placed, or an hourly time slot can be selected between 12:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

While there isn’t a minimum purchase required for the service, there’s a $9.99 delivery fee.

“In addition to creating a fantastic delivery experience for our customers, this initiative also represents a proactive and thoughtful approach to competing with and drawing consumers away from the illicit cannabis market, which we know remains resilient in part due to their offering of unregulated delivery services,” says president and CEO Raj Grover.

On Tuesday, company stock was down more than 9 per cent to $5.49 on the TSX Venture Exchange.

Last month, High Tide said it was buying Bud Room Inc., which includes a store in Ottawa and its app-based ordering technology Fastendr, allowing the firm to start selling cannabis out of kiosks and “smart lockers.”
