Tecsys (TSX:TCS) announced today the University of Miami Health System (UHealth) will use Tecsys’ Elite Healthcare platform to help smooth out issues in its supply chain.
The UDC uses Tecsys software to enable data-driven analytics and centralize logistics operations.
“We are now equipped to remain proactive and respond nimbly to supply and demand anomalies, confident that we know what we have on our shelves, and how we need to adjust to avoid supply disruptions to patient-facing clinical teams. Supply chain execution software that links up with our ERP gives us the tools to build a powerful roadmap for agility and resiliency, which is especially critical given recent global events,” said Keith Murphy, chief supply chain officer for Uhealth and Miller School of Medicine.
Tecsys provides cloud-based supply chain solutions across multiple different links in the chain. These include the healthcare, distribution and converging commerce industries. The platform also works with warehouse management, distribution and transportation, supply management at point of use, order management and fulfillment.
Founded in 2019, UHealth Supply Chain Services was invented to cut costs while maintaining quality. The team supports operations across UHealth Tower, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, as well as the Desai Sethi Urology Institute and over 30 outpatient sites.

UHealth launches distribution center
UHealth Supply Chain Services launched a distribution center combining supply chain activities for the health system. It has been operating a 100 per cent low unit of measure or just in time supply chain operation like many healthcare organizations since the pandemic. The just-in-time supply chain model provides materials when they are needed instead of stockpiling, reducing costs.
Additionally, there’s hurricane season to consider. UHealth notes the need for emergency stock during hurricane season when storms can cause supply chain disruptions. The self-distribution center model provides supply chain organizations with a number of benefits. These include improving service levels, reducing operating costs and optimizing supply distribution across the network.
