Slam Exploration Ltd (CVE: SXL) (OTCMKTS: SLMXF) has entered the antimony prospecting game with the addition of three gold-antimony claims in New Brunswick. This project, named Harry Brook, adds to a portfolio of copper, nickel, zinc, cobalt, lead and silver mining properties the junior is pursuing.
In the press released about the acquisition on Monday, SLAM highlighted high-grade historical results from the project area that have provided incentive for the company.
Prospectors found a float occurrence sample grading 24.25 per cent antimony (Sb) in 2005, as documented in a provincial database. Additionally, a quartz boulder examined in another area of the property that year held 1,320 grams per tonne gold (Au).
In the context of mining and mineral exploration, particularly in prospecting and early-stage geology, a “float occurrence” refers to loose pieces of mineralized rock that have been detached from their original bedrock source due to natural processes. These pieces are often transported downhill by gravity, streams, glaciers, or slope processes, sometimes over significant distances, before coming to rest on the surface or in the soil. They are not in their primary geological position, which distinguishes them from an outcrop
Geologists consider 24.25 per cent Sb exceptional for float samples of this type, and 1,320 g/t Au qualifies as bonanza-grade gold. Even though prospectors collected these samples more than 20 years ago, they still signal strong potential for valuable future discoveries.
This kind of historical upside is driving renewed interest across North America, including in Nevada where NevGold Corp (CVE: NAU) (OTCMKTS: NAUFF) (FRA: 5E50) recently identified 2.4 to 3.0 million tonnes of previously mined material with consistent high-grade antimony and gold in historical leach pads at its Limousine Butte project.
“Antimony is extremely important right now for North America and 3+ times more expensive than copper,” commented SLAM Vice President Jimmy Gravel. “For the gold, well, everybody knows the story!”
Harry Brook resides within the vicinity of the Bald Hill antimony project being developed by Antimony Resources Corp (CNSX: ATMY) (OTCMKTS: ATMYF) (FRA: K8J0). Antimony Resources filed a NI-43-101 Technical Report at this site in October that market observers perceived favourably.
Antimony Resources just released high-grade core assays from project too, including 8.48 per cent Sb over 3 metres within a 27-metre interval containing over 2 per cent Sb.
Essential roles in flame retardants, lead-acid batteries, semiconductors, photovoltaic glass and defence applications continue to propel strong strategic demand across the antimony industry in early 2026.
