Orford Mining Corporation (TSXV: ORM) has found lithium-cesium-tantalum-bearing pegmatites during its exploration program in the Nunavik region in northern Quebec.
On Thursday, the gold and critical minerals explorer said that during this initial exploration program, a total of 1,534 field stations and 489 samples of pegmatite were collected across Orford’s land package in the Cape Smith area.
Results from the assays show LCT bearing pegmatites on three properties including kWatt, Flare and Cathode. The findings will help the company vector its future exploration programs.
The identified dykes (large, tabular bodies of rock) contain certain minerals and have shown chemical signatures that suggest they may be prospective for lithium-bearing spodumene deposits. Spodumene is a primary source of lithium and is commonly found in lithium-rich pegmatites.

Qiqavik Project boasts multiple recent high-grade gold findings spanning over 40 km along a mineralized trend
The company’s West Raglan Project encompasses numerous high-grade Raglan-style discoveries of nickel, copper, and platinum group metals, spread across a 55-kilometer mineralized trend. Orford, in early 2023, secured sizable claim blocks in pursuit of lithium resources within the Nunavik Region.
These specific lithium claim blocks were meticulously chosen due to their promising lithium potential, following a thorough examination of available data. Additionally, Orford maintains four property positions in the Joutel region of the Abitibi District in Northern Quebec, a location known for its historical deposits like Eagle/Telbel, Joutel Copper, Poirier Copper and Vezza.
“The success of Orford’s inaugural exploration program on its 100 per cent owned Nunavik Lithium Properties is a testament to our rigorous ground selection process and to our hardworking field teams,” CEO David Christie said in a statement.
“Discovering new LCT Pegmatite fields in this totally unexplored region is a huge step forward, giving us a solid foundation upon which to build a 2024 program.”
Last August, Orford reported that it had completed another successful exploration season for gold and critical minerals in Nunavik, Québec.
