NorthWest Copper extends Kwanika zone with 73.9m at 1.39% CuEq

The three-hole batch extended higher-grade mineralization about 50 metres up-dip, with assays from 26 holes still outstanding.

NorthWest Copper Corp. CVENWST OTCMKTSNWCCF reported on Thursday that hole K-26-260 returned 73.9 metres grading 1.39 per cent copper equivalent in Kwanika's Western Zone in British Columbia. The three-hole batch extended higher-grade mineralization about 50 metres up-dip and filled a gap near existing resources, the company said.

Shares closed lower at C$0.26 on the TSX Venture Exchange at 4:00 p.m. EDT on Oct. 28, before the announcement, the CVENWST quote showed.

The headline intersection contained 0.51 per cent copper and 0.79 grams per tonne gold. NorthWest has now reported results from 17 of the 43 holes in its completed program, with the outstanding assays coming from the North Pit Extension Zone.

The company completed 12,291 metres of drilling in 2026 and has finished reporting Western Zone assays. The holes were designed to reduce spacing to about 50 metres in targeted areas to support upgrades to indicated resources.

"Importantly, we are extending known mineralization, improving geological continuity and identifying additional exploration opportunities beyond the current mineral resource," chief executive Paul Olmsted said in the release.

NorthWest is a copper-gold explorer and developer focused on British Columbia. It owns all of Kwanika, where the latest drilling also confirmed the presence and orientation of a broad, low-grade mineralized structure below known mineralization.

Hole K-26-258 extended Unit 1 mineralization up-dip. K-26-260 closed a gap in Unit 2 and intersected primary copper-gold porphyry mineralization immediately below the current resource.

The headline intersection starts 457 metres down hole K-26-260. The hole was drilled at a dip of minus 88 degrees to a final depth of 675 metres, so the reported starting depth is a distance along the borehole.

Within the headline intersection, a 25.9-metre section graded 2.19 per cent copper equivalent. That section carried 0.48 per cent copper and 1.58 grams per tonne gold, starting 505 metres downhole, according to the assay highlights.

A separate 74.8-metre intersection in the same hole graded 0.78 per cent copper equivalent. It began 600.2 metres downhole and contained 0.23 per cent copper and 0.49 grams per tonne gold.

Hole K-26-258 also returned 10.9 metres grading 1.01 per cent copper equivalent. That interval began 406.2 metres downhole.

The batch also included an unsuccessful test: hole K-26-256 was abandoned because of difficult ground and poor drilling performance before reaching the targeted mineralized depths.

Vice-president of business development and exploration Geoff Chinn said the remaining assays cover 26 holes in the North Pit Extension Zone. He said the deeper, palladium-enriched porphyry mineralization may warrant expanding the re-sampling of older holes.
