A luxurious hotel in one of the world’s most expensive countries has decided to enhance its guest experience through the use of sleep tech.
InterContinental Singapore just announced a new partnership with the American company Solace LifeSciences. Through the collaboration, the hotel will be utilizing Solace’s NuCalm technology suite and its DeepSleep program throughout the location’s rooms.
“NuCalm’s DeepSleep program is a cutting-edge, patented neuroacoustic software designed to guide the brain into its most restorative states of sleep,” InterContinental Singapore described in a blog post. “By gently synchronizing brain waves with calming frequencies, DeepSleep allows users to fall asleep with ease, sleep deeper, and wake up feeling truly refreshed and renewed.”
NuCalm was originally created to aid people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and substance abuse problems. The sound technology is the product of three decades of research. It was pioneered by neuropsychobiology researcher and naturopath Blake Hollaway with the intention of being able to treat those conditions without using drugs.
NuCalm has received FDA approval for being a worthwhile general wellness product. Its creator, Solace LifeSciences, claims that it has the world’s first and only patent covering “systems and methods for balancing and maintaining the health of the human autonomic nervous system” as well.
In addition to DeepSleep, described as the most immersive rest experience, the headphone and mobile application system features five other sound journeys for the user. Rescue is intended for stress recovery; PowerNap is designed to offer a quick recharge; Ignite is intended to boost mental performance; FlowState prioritizes promoting creativity for writers; and Focus is tailored for studying and planning.
Guests at InterContinental Singapore will be able to pair the app with their own headphones and listen to the tracks. The hotel’s aim is to make visitors that are suffering from fatigue or jet lag have a more pleasant stay.
Solace was founded in 2002 and created NuCalm in 2009. It evolved from a costly FDA Class III medical device in its early days to a more widely accessible mobile app-based system within the past few years.
