Jones Soda partners with Tilray to bring its cannabis-infused pop into Canadian market

Mary Jones will become available in Ontario by the end of the quarter and make its way into the other provinces later

Mary Jones, a cannabis-infused pop created by Jones Soda Co. (CSE: JSDA) (OTCQB: JSDA), will soon be available in Canada. Only Americans have been able to try the Seattle-based company’s creation thus far, but those days will become a thing of the past.

Jones announced early this week that its carbonated weed beverage would enter the Ontario market by the end of Q1. This is possible through a manufacturing and distribution partnership with Tilray Brands, Inc. (TSX: TLRY).

Toronto cannabis firm Green Hedge will assist with the sales initiative too. The firm’s chief executive officer says consumers have been favouring the effects of cannabis drinks over alcohol in recent days.

“Infused beverages are growing at a rapid pace in Canada and around the world, including an increasing number of consumers who are shifting to it over alcohol,” Green Hedge CEO Andrew von Teichman said.

Following its Ontario debut, Jones Soda will make its way into the other Canadian provinces at an unspecified date. Although Jones is based in the United States, Mary Jones will soon make her presence known in the country where the brand was founded.

“Jones was originally founded in Vancouver, BC, Canada and Tilray is a natural fit for our first international expansion for Mary Jones following the incredible success we’ve had in our U.S. markets,” David Knight, CEO of Jones Soda, said.

The pot pop became a top seller in California after entering the market there in 2022. More than 350 dispensaries in the Golden State stock the products. Jones brought it into Nevada and Michigan as well following its success there.

Jones Soda enters the pet market

Cannabis-infused soda is not the only recent spin-off created by the company.

The brand announced that it had expanded into the pet market with the creation of “Craft Dog Soda” at the end of November.

“Jones Craft Dog Soda is the ‘pawfect’ drink for your furry friend who is tired of drinking the same old boring water every day,” the Washington-based soda distributor says.

Jones has long been known for having pictures of pets on the bottles of its standard soda. The drink producer says this was part of the inspiration.

“The wholesome and nutritious recipes are made with real people-grade meat and poultry stocks that are also used in premium soups and sauces,” the company said in a news release. Jones says it was formulated with the help of veterinarians and dog owners.
