Hargreaves Services plc selected for 3 Sizewell C water facilities

Work on three foul water treatment facilities is due to begin in early 2027 and run for two years; the Oct. 9 announcement gives no contract value.

Early 2027 is the planned start of work on three foul water treatment facilities for Sizewell C after Hargreaves Services plc LONHSP was selected for the contract on Oct. 9. The contract value was not disclosed, but the board expects the award to help underpin the £292.1 million fiscal 2027 group revenue figure Hargreaves identified as its assessment of pre-release consensus market expectations. Sizewell C Limited is the counterparty, and Hargreaves expects delivery to run over two years.

The consensus figure covers the whole group and gives no price for the three water facilities. The same announcement identifies £305.2 million as Hargreaves' assessment of pre-release consensus market expectations for fiscal 2028 group revenue. The board linked its expectation that the award would help underpin the existing forecasts to the planned phasing of the work.

Hargreaves' assessment of pre-release consensus expectations also lists £17.9 million in underlying profit before tax for fiscal 2027. The corresponding expectation for fiscal 2028 is £18.6 million.

The assignment covers design, procurement and manufacture, followed by installation, testing and commissioning. The reproduced announcement provides no separate completion date for each facility, payment schedule or price per plant. The disclosed two-year duration therefore shows when work is expected to run, without showing how much revenue the contract will produce in either fiscal year.

Hargreaves describes itself on its company website as a group working in infrastructure, environmental services and logistics. The website lists logistics and earthmoving businesses alongside its core services operation. The Sizewell award adds a named nuclear construction customer to its contracted workload.

Water Facilities Serve Site Construction

The three facilities are required for construction of the Sizewell C nuclear power project. They are not described in Hargreaves' announcement as part of the generating plant, and the announcement gives no electricity capacity or first-power date tied to this contract. That distinction keeps the award's immediate contribution in contracted engineering work, with commissioning of the water systems still to come.

Sizewell C's own project updates show that construction logistics are advancing: it reported the arrival of its first commercial freight train on Sept. 9 and planning approval on Sept. 17 for an Avonmouth tunnel production facility. Its news page also lists separate supply-chain awards for site services and equipment. Those notices describe activity around the construction site, while Hargreaves' announcement leaves the water package unpriced.

"The award reflects the growing strength of our engineering and project delivery capabilities and further demonstrates our ability to support nationally significant clean energy and infrastructure developments across the UK," Hargreaves chief executive Simon Hicks said in the reproduced announcement.

The contract calls for Hargreaves to procure and manufacture equipment before it installs and tests the facilities. The statement gives no supplier list or equipment lead times, so the early 2027 start is the first dated schedule marker it provides. Commissioning remains within the two-year delivery window rather than at a separately dated handover.

The next dated milestone is the planned early-2027 start of work on the three treatment facilities, ahead of the expected two-year delivery period.
