Google LLC, a subsidiary of Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL), completed its acquisition of cyber defense, threat intelligence and incident response service provider, Mandiant (NASDAQ:MNDT). Mandiant will join Google Cloud and keep its brand name.
The merger means Google Cloud and Mandiant can combine to create and deliver an end-to-end security operations suite with wider and broader capabilities in support of customers through a mix of Google’s cloud and on-premise environments.
“The completion of this acquisition will enable us to deliver a comprehensive and best-in-class cybersecurity solution. We believe this acquisition creates incredible value for our customers and the security industry at large. Together, Google Cloud and Mandiant will help reinvent how organizations protect themselves, as well as detect and respond to threats,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud.
Mandiant uses a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model to provide cybersecurity, using decades of frontline experience and threat intelligence. The company’s approach helps organizations improve their cyber security programs and instill the confidence required to defend against and respond to cyber threats. The deal with Google Cloud meshes well with Google Cloud’s penchant and mission statement of accelerating each organization’s direction towards digital transformation through using Google’s tech, and the cleanest cloud in the industry. Google Cloud has helped over 200 countries and territories with their critical business problems to date.

In addition to threat intelligence, Google Cloud also provides zero trust architecture, and planet scale analytics and security operations. Mandiant has a reputation for being a digital first-responder, meaning it shows up when there’s a large scale cybersecurity incident, and its services have been spread out across 22 countries, and are well regarded for helping top enterprises and organizations both react and help be proactive against cybersecurity issues and incidents.
“Mandiant is driven by a mission to make every organization secure from cyber threats and confident in their readiness. Combining our 18 years of threat intelligence and incident response experience with Google Cloud’s security expertise presents an incredible opportunity to deliver with the speed and scale that the security industry needs,” said Kevin Mandia, CEO of Mandiant.
