“Better Today!” he wrote on X Jan. 3

Barry Manilow, one of the best-selling musical artists of all time, is recovering smoothly after surgeons removed a cancerous spot from his left lung.

It appears that the 82-year-old Grammy award-winning singer will be able to continue performing in Las Vegas for the foreseeable future.

“Better today!” Manilow said on X Saturday alongside a hospital bed selfie after the successful procedure. Doctors were able to identify the malignant spot early and remove it swiftly, thereby eliminating the need for chemo or radiation therapy.

Manilow’s early-stage lung cancer was discovered with an MRI when a doctor recommended he receive a scan for his recent bouts of bronchitis. The performer and long-time smoker says it is “pure luck” that hospital staff were able to catch the disease before it progressed.

Manilow had to reschedule eight of his January concerts due to his unfortunate run-in with the lung disease. The artist plans to eat chicken soup and watch I Love Lucy re-runs while he recovers. He will be very busy in February, according a bulletin shared online.

“I’m counting the days until I return to my home away from home at the Westgate Las Vegas for our Valentine’s weekend concerts on February 12-13-14 and throughout 2026,” the vocalist said.

“Something tells me that February weekend is going to be one big party!”

Manilow’s social media posts received many supportive comments from his stage crew, other associates and fans.

“I’m so happy you’re feeling better today!” one popular user said. “I had that poster of you standing with a silver backdrop on my wall growing up! You look as handsome as ever!”
