Churchill Resources Inc (CVE: CRI) (OTCMKTS: CRICF) has added itself to the list of junior mining companies pursuing antimony (Sb) mineralization as the valuable mineral continues to pull the spotlight.
On Wednesday, the company was “very pleased” to reveal that it had recent success in this regard by pulling two grab samples with over 10 per cent Sb content from a pair of quartz veins at a historic mine site.
Churchill is not the only junior to take an interest in antimony mining within Newfoundland. New Age Metals Inc (CVE: NAM) (OTCMKTS: NMTLF) (FRA: P7J) is currently completing a sampling program on recently staked claims in the region. They reside on the same geological trend as Canada’s only significant antimony-producing mine in history: Beaver Brook.
The new results provided by Churchill come from land near Gander that the company recently acquired from Newfoundland prospectors Eddie and Roland Quinlan. The Black Raven property hosts a small past-producing antimony mine, Frost Cove, and a little gold mine named Stewart.
Less significantly, Churchill reported pulling grab samples with 10 grams per tonne gold, 7.7 g/t Au and 7.5 g/t Au.
“These exceptional results further validate the company’s strategic pivot to antimony and gold at Black Raven’s past-producing mines,” the junior boasted in its news release, “and underscores the entire property’s significant potential.”
Additional prospecting and sampling work will be completed at Black Raven next month.

Churchill shifts its focus from nickel
Before the recent prospecting that yielded the newly discovered Sb samples, this battery metal was the company’s primary concern. In Churchill’s latest fall presentation, antimony isn’t even mentioned.
Churchill Resources has been exploring the Taylor Brook and Florence Lake nickel properties for quite some time. These Atlantic Canada sites also hold significant quantities of cobalt, copper and platinum group elements like palladium.
Like other juniors such as New Age, NevGold Corp (CVE: NAU) (OTCMKTS: NAUFF) (FRA: 5E50) and Antimony Resources Corp (CNSX: ATMY) (FRA: K8J0) to the southwest in New Brunswick, the high price of the brittle silvery metalloid element (Sb) has made locating it much more exciting than it was in previous years.
