Churchill Resources expands Newfoundland nickel project by 72%

Two new licenses spanning over 126 square kilometres have now been staked

Following identification of two large high-priority targets last month, Churchill Resources Inc. (TSX-V: CRI) has expanded the land package at its Taylor Brook nickel project immensely.

The Toronto-based junior announced that it had added over 126 square kilometres to its property through map staking on Wednesday — a 72 per cent increase. To date, Churchill has spent C$8 million on the Newfoundland project.

These two targets in a new area designated as Taylor Brook West are part of a geological feature the company describes as a “magmatic trend.” Churchill is now deploying fields crews to conduct prospecting and soil sampling work along this trend. Drilling will start next month.

“Our 2024 ground geophysical program at Taylor Brook has successfully generated two compelling, large, very high induced polarization (IP) chargeability targets in geological settings encouraging for nickel sulphide deposits,” chief executive Paul Sobie said Aug. 13.

A total of four primary targets have been identified by Churchill at the site. It sits in northern Newfoundland, directly north of the Valentine Gold Mine operated by Calibre Mining Corp (TSX: CXB) (OTCQX: CXBMF) and northwest of New Found Gold Corp.’s (TSX-V: NFG) Queensway project.

Churchill closes private placement

On Aug. 1 the prospector announced that it obtained a C$2.5 million dollar investment. It will be utilized to fund nickel mining activities at two sites in Newfoundland & Labrador.

Currently, Churchill is preparing additional permits needed for upcoming airborne surveys. The company plans to submit them to the provincial government in the immediate future.

In addition to Taylor Brook, the junior miner is focused on the Florence Lake nickel project in central Labrador and the White River diamond property in Ontario.

Churchill says it is the first junior working in the White River diamond district alongside majors Rio Tinto Group (LON: RIO) and the South African diamond miner De Beers.
