Toronto Police and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) are currently investigating the fishy disappearance of a large order of cannabis merchandise. The goods had a retail value of about C$16,000.
It was supposed to be delivered to the Kindling Cannabis dispensary in Toronto’s Leaside neighbourhood at the end of December, but got sent to the wrong location before being left in an alley and vanishing.
The Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS) managed to wrongfully deliver the shipment to the Happy Spliff — another pot shop a couple doors down.
When Kindling Leaside’s General Manager Taylor Caldwell contacted the OCS the day after it was supposed to show up, they told her that an employee from the other dispensary had left the boxes containing the cannabis products in the alley behind her store.
When Caldwell looked at security cam footage, she saw that someone had dropped those boxes off around midnight before another individual appeared a couple minutes later and stole everything.

OCS compensates Kindling, but questions linger
The province’s marijuana retail manager refunded Caldwell for the stolen merchandise, but she will be left with unanswered questions until the investigation has concluded. The OCS says this is an extremely rare occurrence.
It is uncertain why workers at the Happy Spliff would sign for a shipment that didn’t belong to them. It is even stranger that the valuable boxes were left in a back alley behind Caldwell’s shop late at night. The identity of the person who dropped them there is currently unknown, as is the thief who appears to have been working with them on this Trailer Park Boys-grade heist.
“Given that this matter is complex, and remains the subject of an ongoing police investigation, we will take appropriate action in accordance with the law and our regulations once investigations are complete and we are able to review the evidence,” a spokesperson from the AGCO said.
Kindling Cannabis has multiple locations in the city and offers 1-hour free delivery throughout the GTA. The dispensary chain has received 5-star reviews on Leafly and Weedmaps along with hundreds of positive comments on Google.
