AgiBot launches miniature humanoid robot you can carry in a backpack

Wee robotic creations are a niche that a select handful of companies have been taking interest in

Chinese robotics firm AgiBot has launched a mini humanoid robot that can fit into a standard backpack. Those who desire to take one out and about with them will soon have that convenience.

The company’s co-founder and Chief Technical Officer Peng Zhihui formally revealed the Quester 1 (Q1) on China’s popular video sharing platform Bilibili Dec. 31. Agibot’s robot stands at a mere 2 feet 7 inches and weighs roughly one eighth of full-sized variations. This enables Q1 to perform stunts with less damage risk, making it more “crash-resistant,” as described by the company.

Quester 1 utilizes Quasi-Direct Drive joints that enable it to perform agile movements. The AI-integrated open-source humanoid features built-in voice interaction, dance coaching, English tutoring and other interactive capabilities. It also supports 3D-printable custom shells and zero-code programming tools.

While pricing remains undisclosed, the Q1 signals a future where humanoid robots aren’t confined to factories but become everyday companions and tools for innovation. AgiBot has joined the ranks of Reachy Mini creator Hugging Face, AlphaMini maker UBTech Robotics Corp Ltd (OTCMKTS: UBTRF), Aelos robot producer Leju and a select few others that have delved into fine-tuning mini humanoids.

AgiBot is also yet to reveal a date when customers will be able to get their hands on the Q1.

Former Huawei engineers Zhihui and Deng Taihua founded Agibot in 2023. The company has emerged as one of the top performers in China’s dominant robotics sector. In 2025 alone, AgiBot shipped over 5,000 of its robotic creations to buyers.

Aside from Q1, AgiBot’s diverse lineup of humanoid robots can perform a diverse array of tasks ranging from pushing people around in wheelchairs to assisting with automotive production.

PitchBook data from March showed that AgiBot was worth approximately US$2.1 billion at the time. One of the company’s robots shook hands with soccer superstar Sir David Beckham in June.

AgiBot is targeting an IPO on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in Q3 this year and aiming to achieve a valuation of US$6 billion.
