Avicanna Inc. (TSX: AVCN) (OTCQX: AVCNF) (FSE: 0NN) launched a new online portal to educate healthcare professionals about cannabis.
On Tuesday, the cannabinoid products firm announced the “Avicenna Academy” will focus on medical education and practical information about cannabis with a focus on expanding access and measuring patient outcomes.
The academy will aim to address the potential gaps in understanding the use of cannabinoid-based products and offer resources and information to the medical community. The company offers downloadable guides, online modules and access to discussions with leaders in the medical cannabis industry. It is supported by experts in pain management, neurology and dermatolog.
The portal is free for health care providers and offers guidelines and information including the history of medical cannabis, the endocannabinoid system, therapeutic targets, state of evidence, dosing and case studies.

“We are excited about the launch of this Platform as a resource that facilitates information and education to potentially improve patient outcomes and foster further collaboration with the medical community,” Avicanna CEO Aras Azadian said.
Company stock stayed flat Tuesday at $0.30 on the Toronto Securities Exchange.
Avicanna sells cannabinoid products such as CBD focused on the medical market. It sells its products under the brand RHO Phyto which carries sublingual, oral, topical or transdermal medicines. The company has also registered its drug candidate Trunerox in South America.
