Dialogue Health Technologies (TSX:CARE) launched Wellness, a program to promote healthier living through preventative healthy habits.

The company teamed with The Center for Behaviour Change at UCL to build Wellness. The app uses a multi-targeted approach to behaviour modification. The program seeks to help the 70 per cent of Canadians who don’t get the necessary and recommended 150 minutes of weekly exercise, and don’t have regular and strong sleep habits.

“Inclusion of preventative initiatives into the continuum of care will significantly improve the life and productivity of our members. As a physician, I’m thrilled that Dialogue is investing in innovative tools that help our members and their family adopt healthy lifestyle habits which will have a meaningful impact on their health and wellness and can prevent or reduce their likelihood of illness, in addition to current treatment options. Members can develop healthier habits, together,” said Dr Marc Robin, the medical director for Dialogue.

This recent development builds on the company’s acquisition of the UK-based global well-being platform, Tictrac, Dialogue’s new program is the first preventative virtual care model in Canada. It uses gamification like wellness challenges mingled with clinically vetted content and insights to help develop better habits. Some of these themes are centered around better sleep, stress reduction, as well as improving mood.

Health technologies and Dialogue

Dialogue is a Canadian-based virtual health and wellness platform that’s been around since 2016. It uses a team of health professionals to serve employers and organizations interested in the health of their employees, members and families. Its Integrated Health Platform is a healthcare program that collects all of the company’s programs into one application accessible via smartphone, computer or tablet.

Wellness develops Dialogue’s continuum of care towards prevention focusing on primary care, mental health and employee assistance programs.

“This is an important milestone for our team as Dialogue expands into preventative care and encourages a more proactive approach to the well-being of Canadians. For the first time, organizations can provide tools and programs that focus on preventing illness and promoting healthier living alongside physical and mental health support in one multidisciplinary health platform,” said Jean-Nicolas Guillemette, Dialogue’s chief operating officer.

The Dialogue Health Technologies Wellness program focuses around promoting employees to take accountability for their own health. It also provides HR teams insights on member wellness. This adds an entirely new dimension to the emerging trend of hybrid workplaces, especially regarding talent attraction and retention. Studies show 150 minutes of exercise per week can delay or prevent ill-health.
