Microdosing LSD can help people improve their sleep, according to data collected from MindBio Therapeutics’ (CSE:MBIO) (FSE:WF6) LSD clinical trials.

The Melbourne-based company announced it analyzed sleep data from 80 participants over over 3,200 nights during randomized controlled trials and found positive sleep responses to the LSD microdosing treatment.

The initial findings from the sleep data included the recording, measuring and analyzing sleep patterns in both the LSD microdosing treatment group and the placebo group.

According to recent sleep studies, one in five adults in the United States struggles with falling asleep every night, with half of the adults experiencing insomnia at least once a month.

“The sleep data is promising for a potential tolerable alternative to sleeping pills,” CEO and co-founder of MindBio Justin Hanka said.

“We are rigorously pursuing masses of data on LSD microdosing under randomized controlled conditions to get the evidence we need for accelerating approvals for access to this medicine for effectively treating mood and sleep disruption.”

MindBio is preparing seven research papers analyzing data from Phase 1 LSD-Microdosing trials involving 80 healthy subjects. These papers will form the foundation for launching two fully funded Phase 2 LSD-Microdosing clinical trials in the near future.

The first trial will focus on major depressive disorder, with 20 patients undergoing an eight-week LSD microdosing treatment regimen in a naturalistic at-home setting.

The second trial will explore the effectiveness of LSD-Microdosing in conjunction with Meaning Centred Psychotherapy for late-stage cancer patients experiencing emotional distress.

The findings are particularly significant for depression and related mental health conditions, according to MindBio researchers.

Current treatments for mood and sleep disruptions often involve a combination of antidepressants and sleeping pills, which carry risks and unwanted side effects.
